On June 23, CATL officially released the third-generation CTP-Kirin battery. The system integration has reached a new high in the world, the volume utilization rate has exceeded 72%, and the energy density can reach 255Wh/kg. Mass production will be launched in 2023.

CATL uses precise computing and AI simulation to explore the design boundaries of Kirin battery life cycle application scenarios.The original bottom space sharing solution intelligently distributes functional modules such as structural protection, high-voltage connection, and thermal runaway exhaust, releasing 6% of the energy space.At the same time, it can meet the national standard battery safety test requirements such as bottom ball hitting.

Subverting the traditional water cooling, the heat exchange area is quadrupled

The world's first large-surface cooling technology for cells, based on the change of cells, places the water-cooling function between the cells to quadruple the heat exchange area.The battery cell temperature control time has been shortened to half of the original, and it supports 5-minute fast hot start and 10-minute fast charge.Moreover, in extreme cases, the cells can be rapidly cooled, effectively blocking abnormal heat conduction between the cells.Kirin batteries can achieve thermal stability and thermal safety of the full chemical system, so as to adapt to material upgrades with higher energy density.

Through three major technological innovations, Kirin battery can increase the energy density of the ternary battery system to 255Wh/kg, and the energy density of the lithium iron phosphate battery system to 160Wh/kg.Under the same chemical system and the same battery pack size, the power of the Kirin battery pack can be increased by 13% compared to the 4680 system, achieving a comprehensive improvement in battery life, fast charging, safety, life, efficiency, and low temperature performance.
