On June 28, Real-Time Innovations (RTI), a software framework company for autonomous driving systems, announced the launch ofRTI Connext Drive® 2.0 , a production-gradeintelligent connectivity framework for software-defined vehicles. The framework accelerates direct integration with AUTOSAR Classic and ROS 2, enabling developers to take advantage of data-centric intelligent connectivity using a familiar ecosystem architecture. So developers can start building faster on existing, familiar platforms without custom programming. In addition, the framework minimizes overall system complexity and cost, while building a future-proof and evolving system without compromising performance.

Connext Drive 2.0 provides an accelerated path to high-performance computing capabilities through safety-certified components and remote operation plug-ins.Connext Drive is built on the Data Distribution Service (DDS™) standard, the leading data connectivity standard also adopted by automotive standards bodies AUTOSAR and ROS.OEMs can quickly design multiple vehicle architectures by selecting the best features and capabilities for a specific use case.New Connext Drive 2.0 features include:

Connext Integration Toolkit for AUTOSAR Classic: Includes a set of tools to connect AUTOSAR Classic ECU modeling and configuration workflows with RTI Connext Drive 2.0 for fast and scalable communication of embedded, real-time and safety systems .This integration simplifies the design and evolution of DDS-enabled automotive ECUs.

Connext ROS 2 Toolkit: Includes a growing library of tools that simplify the integration of the ROS 2 and Connext Drive ecosystems, bridging production-grade systems for ROS 2 developers. With this integration, users can reduce latency in ROS 2 systems through a custom ROS Middleware Wrapper developed by RTI.

Connext Drive Launcher: Helps users design vehicles for specific use cases, including next-generation E/E, ADAS, teleoperation, simulation or high-performance computing.By choosing the best features for a specific use case, developers can increase productivity and accelerate time to market.Users can now simplify project development with direct access to the full suite of utilities, services and tools available in Connext Drive.

Connext Drive 2.0 also includes components certified to ASIL D safety by TUV SUD, ensuring functional vehicle safety to meet the needs of each individual component from the ECU to the central gateway. In addition, the framework includes interoperability with two popular real-time operating systems: armv8 based on QNX for Safety and AUTOSAR Classic OS based on Infineon TriCore to improve reliability and reduce risk for safe production-grade vehicles .Currently, Connext Drive 2.0 is in production on roads in the US, Europe and Asia.
