Volkswagen Vento Facelift launched at inr 7.44 Lakh

After all guesswork and different images, Volkswagen has finally launched a facelifted version of the Vento at Rs 7.44 (ex-showroom, Delhi).The biggest change in the updated version is the inclusion of a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine, replacing the larger 1.6-litre engine.A 5-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed dual-shift DSG automatic transmission (first in the segment) offer fuel-efficient diesel engines.

The updated Vento looks similar to the Fackifted Polo that launched a few months ago.The automaker has introduced petrol and 5 out of 5 variants with a diesel powertrain.

The front looks similar to a Sensing Polo, as the Salon embraces new dual-bezel headlamps, a redesigned grille and a tweaked bumper.Inside the cabin, the updated version gets a new flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, an updated center console and chrome trim around the audio system.The company resisted the likes of the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, with a special focus on rear comfort.The rear seats now offer an entertainment package that includes proximity screens for the front headrests.

Under the hood, the petrol model is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.6MPi engine and a 1.2-litre TSI.The 1.6-litre MPI develops an output of 103.5bhp and 153Nm of maximum torque, while the 1.2-litre TSI also delivers the same output but with more torque at 175Nm.Petrol models have both manual and automatic transmissions, as the 1.6-liter MPI is coupled to a 5-speed manual, while the effective 1.2 TSI mates it to a 7-speed DSG.

Additionally, the diesel model is only available with a 1.5-liter TDI drivetrain, which also delivers a maximum output of 103.5BPP and a peak torque of 250Nm.As mentioned above, the diesel engine comes with a 5-speed manual as well as a 7-speed dual-shift DSG automatic transmission.With diesel models offering automatic transmissions, the Vento has rival Honda City.However, the Hyundai Verna comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
