On July 10, according to the Financial Associated Press, Ford issued an announcement to recall some Corsair, Escape and Maverick hybrid vehicles from 2020 to 2022 due to concerns that the vehicles may catch fire.

The recall affects 100,689 vehicles in the U.S., all with 2.5-liter hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric engines, UPI reported. In the event of an engine failure, affected vehicles could release large amounts of oil and gasoline vapors, Ford said. These two substances can then build up near a vehicle's ignition source and cause a fire under the hood or melt internal components.

Ford said the engine failures involved in the recalled vehicles were caused by isolated manufacturing issues and that it has not received any reports of injuries or incidents related to them.Ford has notified dealers of its decision and plans to notify owners by Aug. 8 of vehicles with revised under-engine guards and active grille shutters, and dealers will fix those recalled vehicles.

Last month, Ford also recalled 49,000 Mach-Eelectric vehicles, citing concerns that their high-voltage battery connectors could overheat.
