Volvo's online-only C40 Recharge starts at £57,400

Volvohas started taking orders for the second electric car in its lineup and the C40, the first all-electric model.

The car is only available to buy online or via subscription, with monthly rentals starting at £729.

Subscribing customers will benefit from convenient Care services, including items such as service, warranty, roadside assistance, and available insurance and home charging options.

First deliveries in the UK are expected in early 2022, when customers can also test drive and experience the car at theirVolvoretailer.

Originally, the £57,400 C40 was fitted with a 'dual motor' powertrain, delivering 408PS and a fixed trim level.It comes with a 78kWh battery and promises a range of around 260 miles.

Lower-powered versions, along with different trim levels, are likely to roll out over the life of the car.

Based on the existing XC40, the new model features a coupe-like roofline with a sloping rear but retains the elevated SUV driving position.

It followsVolvo's pledge to sell only electric cars by 2030.

Like the XC40Recharge, theC40Recharge comes with Volvo's latest infotainment system, co-developed with Google and based on the Android operating system.It provides Google applications and services such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and the Google Play Store.
